• Service Info

    Worship at 9:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.

Both services are identical and recorded.  Our worship style is blended, incorporating a wide variety of musical instruments and vocal talents.  We sing new praise music as well old hymns.  Every Sunday we have a time for greeting each other whether to make a new acquaintance or to hug a good friend.  We continually strive to create unity in our church family and always have time for a family prayer.   The sermon is bound to make you smile at least once and will surely make you think about your relationship with Jesus Christ.  The thought provoking, bible-based preaching will lead you into a week with a God-centered heart.  We provide a study guide in the bulletin for your use during the sermon and throughout the week for deeper reflection.

    Our Passion

The Clare Church of the Nazarene is a bible-believing, bible-preaching church founded on the basic principles of Christianity.  Our goal is to present the gospel message in the same way Jesus did.  He made the message relevant to all listeners.  He met them in their comfort zone.  As our culture evolves the message at CCN will stay the same...however, the venue or the environment may change.  Perhaps you appreciate a more traditional atmosphere or maybe you would prefer a coffee-house style on Saturday night (just a thought).  Well, at CCN we strive to meet the people in a relevant, authentic, non-threatening format.  We hope to meet your needs and introduce you to Jesus Christ if you don’t already know him personally.

    Eight Agreed Statements

These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true. They are common to Christians world-wide:

    -  We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

    - We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

    -  We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

    -  We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

    - We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

    - We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

    - We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

    -  We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.

  • Pastor Jim

    Jim Young, Senior Pastor

Pastor Jim loves people!  You will immediately realize his deep desire to relate to people.  In his sermons he is gifted to bring the message of Jesus Christ straight home to your heart.  That is his true passion...to present Jesus and meet people’s needs.

Pastor Jim has served as the shepherd of the CCN flock since December of 1992.  In that time our church has grown from 70 to 700 in attendance on Sunday morning.  Pastor has enjoyed watching God bring so many people to CCN according to His timing.  This growth explosion was not necessarily his goal but a byproduct of loving the Lord, Jesus Christ, being obedient to his call to minister, and then loving the people as Jesus himself would.

Pastor found that same unconditional love in a friend in 1979.  Tom cared for Jim Young and spent time with him cutting wood, fishing and hunting.  This was during a period when Jim was perhaps despicable!  After growing up in Kansas with his parents and 2 sisters in a very unstable home and 10 years in the oil fields, Jim didn’t know any other way.  However, Tom didn’t give up and Jim saw Jesus’ reflection in Tom.  After several years of avoiding church, Jim arrived and heard a message on creation that turned his feelings of worthlessness into a realization that he is a valued creation!  Not only did he find Jesus that day in 1979, he also followed the call to be a pastor and attended Nazarene Bible College where he became an Ordained Elder.  Pastor Jim served in Cadillac, MI and Whitesburg, KY before coming to Clare.  Please know that pastor wants to be accessible, feel free to get in touch with him anytime...he especially likes to chat over a tasty meal!

  • Pastor Tim

    Tim Fall, Executive Pastor

Being a pastor’s son did not make Tim’s spiritual journey easy or automatic.  Instead, he developed a cynical view of the churches portrait:  full of religious rhetoric, judgmental, hypocritical...NOT genuine.  Maybe you’ve had a similar thought.  The breakthrough for Tim came with some “in your face” challenges that caused him to look to God for friendship.  Then, he developed a passionate relationship with the Lord.  Governed by the verse:  “The Truth will set you free”, Pastor Tim was able to shed all pretense and facades that are set according to our culture which often lead to devastation or unhappiness.  The church CAN be a place to discover the true God who offers hope through Jesus Christ. Pastor Tim is truly grateful for his upbringing and looks back on his life experiences with a sense of  understanding now.  He doesn’t want anyone to allow “religion” to jeopardize an authentic relationship with Jesus.

Through the changing times, Pastor Tim realized that he has always loved learning, but now believes growth is more important. His advice is not to exploit our sins of the past, but to celebrate forgiveness, personal growth and change.

Pastor Tim was born and raised in Michigan and has worked in various business capacities from sales to corporate controller.  We are thankful that Tim has been using his skills as our Executive Pastor for the past 14 years.    Pastor Tim and his wife Katie have 4 children from previous marriages.  You will notice that their entire family aspires to love people and share The Truth...authentically!

  • Pastor Bill

Rev. Harry (Bill) Van Patten, Connection Pastor

Pastor Bill is a people person with a good sense of humor!  He cares about people and the things they go through in life.  Raised in Michigan but not growing up in a Christian home but in the world, he can relate to many of the hurts and struggles families face today.  His first introduction to Jesus Christ came from a caring neighbor at the age of 30 years old.  This began his exciting adventure with Christ!

He moved his family to Iowa to attend a small Bible college, Vennard Collage, and in 1985 graduated with a BA in Pastoral Ministries.  He pastured for 25 years on the Iowa District where he also held several district positions.  After retiring in 2010, the Van Pattens moved back to Michigan.

His love and concern for people has also taken him on mission trips to Mexico, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Africa.

Pastor Bill married his teenage sweetheart, Susan, and they have been blessed with three daughters and six grandchildren.   The Van Pattens come to CCN with a vast variety of experiences that will be used to further the Kingdom of God in the Clare area including leading a yearly parenting class entitled, “Growing Kids God’s Way”.
